Leadership in Early Childhood by Jillian Rodd
Main points:
1. Leadership is about vision and influence. It means that leaders can encourage others to change their behavior, take a new approach to work and build new mind set.
2. Effective leaders know when to use professional judgement, when to support, when to push and when to give others opportunities to lead.
3. Characteristics of a leader are: Curiosity (eager to learn), Honesty (principles in action), Courtesy (treating other with respect and dignity), courage (willing to take risk), compassion (creating trust, empathy)
4. Leader cannot be too dominant since it can diminish staff motivation and initiative.
5. If leaders only focus on the critical rather than encouraging aspect of feedback, staff can learn only to expect a negative appraisal by leaders when the word feedback is mentioned and consequently they will take a defensive attitudes to any feedback.
Personal action as result
This makes me think that becoming a leader is like a complex works to do and it is a challenging task and role. Teacher should be a good leader in his or her class. There are many strategies that teacher can do to build students' independence and responsibility.
First, teacher should be more sensitive and respond to students feeling. By doing this, the students will feel more comfortable at class and express their moods in a proper ways.
Second, when facing a problem or case of student with their learning, teachers should be more critical in thinking and giving analytical judgement. Teacher should be able to influence their students so they will have self motivation in learning.
Third, teacher has many roles in class. They can become educator, facilitator, motivator, and many more. It means teacher should act differently, adapt fast to changes and be flexible to any challenge that happens.

FIRST AID FOR CHILDREN
There are some accidents happened at school which really need urgent action or proper medication. The school has First Aid Room that provides medicines or tools that students need when they have accident.
Based on my reading there are some main points that we as teacher has to do.
First, in an emergency, it is important to keep calm and act logically. There are 4 steps that we need to do:
1. Assess the situation. What happened? How did it happen? Is there any continuing danger? Do I need an ambulance?
2. Think of safety. Do not risk injuring your self. Move your child only if you must and do so very carefully.
3. Treat serious injuries first. There are two conditions that immediately threaten life. First, inability to breathe. Second is serious bleeding.
4. Get help. We should shout for help and make the area safe.
There are lots of details information about how to deal with an accident. And based on cases that happened at school like nose bleeding,
