WHO WE ARE: Human stages of development
Learning about human stages of life was very relevant with students growing time since they will or had experience it. We started the lesson by reciting Quran surah Al Hajj verse 5 “……Sesungguhnya Kami telah menjadikan kamu dari tanah, kemudian dari setetes mani, kemudian dari segumpal darah, kemudian dari segumpal daging yang sempurna kejadiannya dan yang tidak sempurna, agar Kami jelaskan kepada kamu dan Kami tetapkan dalam rahim, apa yang Kami kehendaki sampai waktu yang sudah ditentukan, kemudian Kami keluarkan kamu sebagai bayi, kemudian (dengan berangsur-angsur) kamu sampailah kepada kedewasaan, dan di antara kamu ada yang diwafatkan dan (adapula) di antara kamu yang dipanjangkan umurnya sampai pikun, supaya dia tidak mengetahui lagi sesuatupun yang dahulunya telah diketahuinya….”
And also Quran surah Al Mukminun verse 12-14
Dan sungguh kami telah menciptakan manusia dari saripati (yang berasal) dari tanah (12)Kemudian kami menjadikannya air mani (yang disimpan) dalam tempat yang kokoh (rahim) (13) Kemudian, air mani itu Kami jadikan sesuatu yang melekat, lalu sesuatu yang melekat itu Kami jadikan segumpal daging, dan segumpal daging itu Kami jadikan tulang-belulang itu Kami bungkus dengan daging. As follow up, the students were given jigsaw reading about different stages of human life from Erikson which are infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, late childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, mature adulthood and old age. They collected information about each stage through interview and observation to school community and family. They explained the characteristics of each stage physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally.
We invited dr. Daulika Yusna to share information about how body systems work from how to maintain our health from different kind of diseases. She shared her knowledge and also provided interactive games about body organs.
PUBERTY
It is the most engaging topic in this unit. As a start the students were divided into 2 groups (boys and girls) in two different rooms. Then, they watched the video about puberty and its characteristics. We also invited PE and Islamic teachers to share information from physical and Islamic values.The students also did interview to MYP and HS students to collect information about how they experienced puberty and problems that might arise. As a reflection, the students worked in groups to make product about changes that happened in body system.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
Students continued to demonstrate the changes throughout their stages of life (physical, mental, social, intellectual, and spiritual), including significant events that influence their life and how their action for repairing relationship to make a positive self-concept and for preparing their next stages of life as their summative assessment. It was an individual project and student chose different media and techniques to present their understanding.
It was a significant learning journey for student since they reflected what they have been through and learned. They also learned how to plan their future and dreams.
