Lines of Inquiry:
- Characteristics of civilizations and societies
- Connections between past and present
- Implications for the future
- Processes involved in collecting, analyzing and validating evidence
- Analyze information about past civilizations and systems
- Investigate which simple machines were developed by past civilizations
- Assess which aspect of past civilizations have had the most impact on the present day, using evidence from a variety of resources
- Predict societal and technological changes in the future
How did the learning journey start?
We started the learning to observe some objects and making connection between past and present technologies using Inquiry Mat. They continued to explore Ancient civilizations and had a presentation for their formative assessment. |
How did the learning experiences happen?
To gain more information about how past civilizations have great impact to people's lives today, the students continued learning about simple machines like lever, pulley, ramp and etc. They collect information of objects at school and at home that applied the simple machines. They also visited Transportation Museum and PPIPTEK in TMII to do compare and contrast of different machines. |
How did summative assessment happen?
After making connection of past civilizations and simple machines applied then students prepared their summative assessment in groups. Students create/evaluate/design/reflect a project of realistic technology or system that will solve the problem nowadays and future needs based on their research. The project must include: description of the project, scientific journal writing, simple machines application, and prediction about the societal and technological changes in the future. |
